Anti Virus Software: Protecting Your Computer From Malicious Software

As you were surfing the internet, you came across a software download that promises something you want. You immediately clicked on the link and started to download the file. It was in the executable file format.

You then get excited as the download is very fast and getting completed, during the download, you think of everything you can do with the particular software is promising.

At last, the software download is finished! Upon opening your file, though, your hard drive suddenly reformats automatically. You turned off the computer hoping your valuable files and other documents you worked hard for were not erased.

You wonder what happened, and wonder why the computer went crazy and started to reformat your hard drive. Nervously, you turned on the computer hoping that your files were not deleted. Your computer seemed all right, you felt a relief that your computer or hard drive was not damage.

However, after five minutes of turning on your computer, it started again. It was reformatting by itself. It was too late when you realized that your computer was infected with a virus. A thought came to your mind that the software you downloaded might be the culprit.

You felt helpless and frustrated, that all of your work was completely gone and can never be recovered again. Computer virus is a program that can harm your computer. Today, the computer is one of the most important tools in people’s everyday lives. You communicate using the computer, you work using your computer, and you store all your important files in a computer. Getting your computer infected with a computer virus can all of your hard work.

It is important that you should have security for your computer to avoid having it be bugged by virus. You need anti-virus software installed in your computer. With millions of computer viruses circulating the internet, it is no surprise that your computer can be infected with one of these viruses.

You can often get this on emails, and in the internet. One type of computer virus restarts your computer continuously, denying you access to your files and some erases your files instantly going from one hard drive to another. It is important that you should have some form of protection from computer viruses.

Anti-virus programs blocks out malicious programs that is trying to enter your computer. These programs warn you about incoming viruses and ask if you want to delete, clean or quarantine the virus.

Having an anti-virus alone does not necessarily mean complete protection in your computer. It only minimizes the computer virus threat. You will need to update your virus definition at least every week to ensure you protection from these malicious programs.

Since many new computer viruses are developed each day, you should update your virus definitions regularly. It is useless if you do not. Investing in anti-virus software is necessary, especially for people who do their work on the computer and the internet. You do not want your important list of clients to be deleted and especially your sales quota.

One way to avoid getting computer virus in your computer is never open an email from someone you do not know. The subject heading may be tempting, like offering lots of money or prizes, but this is only to attract you to open the email and install the virus in your computer.

With an anti-virus program, your computer is protected and the threat of viruses is minimized.
